Strengthen Your Core
Your core zippers the two halves of your body together. The core muscles support your spine, control the body’s balance, and center of gravity. When your core is not strong, it causes joints and muscles that are not in charge of balance to have to take over for the core muscles.
This can lead to poor performance, fatigue, pain, and damage to the joints. Solution: don’t have kids… Just kidding, but seriously: being pregnant, c sections, and other surgeries in the belly area can cause weakness in the core. Core strength is something we work on in the Physical Therapy department in the office. Read more
Can acupuncture treat my…
Chinese Medicine is a full service medicine that can treat a great variety of ailments by addressing each person as an individual. Unlike Western Medicine, it does not treat or cure diseases.
Disease mechanisms are an entirely Western Medical concept.
Patients often identify themselves with these diseases, i.e. “I am diabetic.” You are not a disease! Diseases have become generalized labels that cover everyone with similar symptoms. Read more

You and your bad posture
I wonder how many of you remember your mother nagging you to “stand up straight and don’t slouch?” You may have been annoyed with her constant nagging, but mom was on to something here.
Forward head posture is one of the leading causes of pain in the neck and shoulders. How many of you sit at a desk staring at a computer for over 8 hours a day 5 days a week?
Over the years, gradual changes to body position can slowly wear away at joints and surrounding soft tissues. Chronic pain, TMJ, and headaches may appear if changes progress and postural alterations remain uncorrected. Read more
Dangers of Energy Drinks
Energy drinks, not to be confused with sport drinks used to rehydrate the body, have become extremely popular over the past few years with young adults and teens alike. This has become an over 5 billion dollar industry in North America.
Manufacturers claim their products boost your energy and increase mental alertness. However, the side effects caused by some of the ingredients concern a lot of health experts. Energy drinks, such as 5-hour Energy, Red Bull, Rockstar, and Monster, which often appeal to children, can and will cause headaches, migraines, insomnia, cardiac arrest, type 2 diabetes, medication interactions, jitters, nervousness, vomiting, and allergic reactions. A Miraculous Story
One of our new patients has given us permission to share his story. Everyone at our office is excited, and it has reminded me why I became a chiropractor. In the words of the patient:
“I have been having severe pain since Thanksgiving 2014. I have had several meetings with an orthopedic doctor whose specialty was arthritis and joint replacement. I’ve had a full battery of x-rays/MRI done to diagnose my condition to which I was told to be severe arthritis deeply inflamed with fluids pushing on the nerves. After I was prescribed an injection that I was told would take care of everything, the pain was back within 36 hours — worse than before. Read more
Vitamin Supplements
If you watch Fox News, you may have seen this report: the NY Attorney general conducted an investigation and “79% of supplements are not what the label claims”.
How can this be true? Well, supplements are not regulated by the FDA. As far as the government’s health watch dog, there’s no rule that says Vitamin C capsules actually have to contain Vitamin C. Therefore, less scrupulous companies might try to sell you a capsule of dirt. Read more
Water Water Everywhere
Did you know that over 3/4 of your body is water? We often hear about dehydration discussed in the summer. Kids passing out on the football field, etc.
But people need to drink water all year round. Have you ever heard of someone getting sick and then going to the hospital because they are dehydrated?
Drinking plenty of water is a good habit all year round. The average person needs roughly 8 cups of water per day. When I say water, I mean the clear stuff. Coffee, soda, tea, etc. do not count as water . Read more
Whiplash, a REAL pain in the neck.
Injuries from small car accidents are often over looked or even ignored. Whiplash, though, is not a small thing; however, the symptoms may not appear right away. It can take up to two years for someone to feel the effects of a whiplash injury. You think: how could that be? If I am injured, I should feel it right away, but, that is not always the case.
Definition of whiplash (according to the free dictionary.com): whiplash is any injury to the neck resulting from a sudden thrusting forwards and snapping back of the head. The technical name is hyper extension-hyper flexion injury. Read more
What you didn’t know about Acupuncture
My kids frequently do those poems where you use every letter of the word. So they’ve inspired me to give it a try. Now bear with me acupuncture has a lot of u’s in it, I dare you to think of three good “U” words.
