NO MORE PAIN

A note from one of our many happy clients: “When I came to Susquehanna Spine & Rehab I was very skeptical. I was diagnosed with a herniated disc in my neck in Aug 2016 and after four years of sleep problems, lower back pain, and many different procedures I didn’t really think this place was going to do anything for me. After only 2 weeks at Susquehanna Spine and Rehab the severe pain in my neck, shoulder and arm had greatly improved … NO MORE PAIN! I can now sleep…

Strengthen Your Core

Your core zippers the two halves of your body together.  The core muscles support your spine, control the body’s balance, and center of gravity. When your core is not strong, it causes joints and muscles that are not in charge of balance to have to take over for the core muscles. This can lead to poor performance, fatigue, pain, and damage to the joints.  Solution: don’t have kids…  Just kidding, but seriously: being pregnant, c sections, and other surgeries in the belly area can cause weakness in the core.  Core…

How is your posture?

If you are like most people, you just sat up straighter.  Some people will admit their posture is off; many that don’t, should.  In our society today there are many factors that contribute to bad posture.  Texting is one!  Many people work on computers all day.  The way you sit, stand, read, drive, and work can all put added stress on your spine.  Here is a summary of research in the journal Surgical Technology International.

Are custom orthotics right for you?

My oldest is crazy in her growing patterns.  One leg will grow, and then a few weeks later, the other will catch up.  It really creates a problem because the longer leg will look like it is wedged up under her hips that creates an imbalance in the hip, which causes back pain.   I came home from work the other day and she said “Daddy Daddy I put my orthotics in my shoes today and my back didn’t hurt at all.  Those things are awesome!”

Good, ol’ fashion back pain

Today we’re going to talk about good, ol’ fashion back pain. There’s no such thing. Many of you have heard me say this before, and it bears repeating-pain is not a disease, it’s a side effect of a disease or disorder. Just like the check engine light in your car is not a broken light bulb, but an indicator there’s something wrong with the engine. So when you have back pain, there’s something wrong with your back; and that something could be any number of things.

Let Dead Dogs Lie

Honestly, you shouldn’t go around touching dead animals, they could carry disease. Also, who wants to talk about something so depressing right before Christmas anyway? But anyway, the holidays are one of those times where you have to be around people you may not like (surely not me) or want to be around just because you share their blood (note-sharing blood may also lead to disease) or through that really lame wedding your wife dragged you to last year with all those people you thought you wouldn’t have to see…

The Hip Bone is connected to the….

Last month I experienced a first. My first earthquake. Actually it wasn’t my first, but the only one I’ve ever felt. Strange because I live through a few in California and Asia that knocked stuff off the wall, but I was sleeping or just didn’t notice. But the big (not that big according to West Coasters) East Coast Quake of 2011 I felt. It’s one of those forever remember what you were doing moments: sitting where I’m sitting now. My mind went through the list of possibilities: Another truck hit…

Ironic isn’t it?

It’s like Rain…    …On your wedding day. Ironic really. Almost embarrassing. I, Dr. Lee, a chiropractor and self-proclaimed most handsome disc specialist in Harford County if not all of Maryland, threw my back out. I saw it coming. As with most cases, it wasn’t one single event like saving a little girls bunny from a raging river, it developed over time. And obviously so, can happen to anyone anytime.  A few years back I injured my foot skiing. I rehabbed it. But the tendons and ligaments of the leg…

All that and good looking too.

Everyday people will ask me what exactly I do. Other than optimizing human performance, increasing vitality, making you look and feel younger, adding life to your years and years to your life along with improving your quality of living; not that much. I do it all by focusing on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health.  Even though it’s mostly to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs,…
