FAQS OF DOT PHYSICAL EXAMS

What tests are performed?

DOT exam is a standard Federal mandated physical that includes a urinalysis, eye test, hearing, blood pressure, history and exam.

How far in advance do I need to make an appointment?

It is recommended to make appointments in advance however it is possible to schedule for the same or next-day depending on availability.

Do I need an appointment, or can I just walk in?

Appointments are recommended however walk-ins may be accommodated but wait times will be longer. During COVID please call for an appointment.

How long does an appointment take?

Approximate time for a DOT exam including paperwork is about 30-40 minutes.

Do I need to bring the paperwork with me?

No, we have all paperwork here for you.

Do you send paperwork to the MVA?

MVA mandates the driver submit the DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate to the MVA.  However, if you have the notice you received from MVA with you we can fax it for you. Faxes will only be accepted by the MVA with that notice. It is your responsibility to follow up with the MVA  we will provide fax confirmation for your records.

Can I open a company account and send employees in?

If you own a company we can set up a company account.  Employees can be sent in for appointments and the company can be billed or put a credit card on file for easy payment.  All documents are returned to the employee at the completion of the appointment.

Do I need a note from my doctor? 

There are certain conditions or medications that may need a release from your doctor.  If a release is needed you will be instructed at your DOT exam to request information from your doctor.  Once we receive the information you will be issued your card.  If you have needed a release in the past you will likely need one again.
