What to Expect

Laying the foundation

Chiropractic care is like building a house – certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. The first 3 phases make up what we call Active Care, where we are actively correcting the problem. The fourth phase is called Wellness Care.

Active Care:

Phase 1: Relief Care

Goal: Reduce Pain

As you progress, you can expect to be feeling less pain and discomfort, an increase in range of motion, and also begin to return to daily activities.

Remember – the goal of relief care is just to provide relief from the pain and discomfort. Patients must continue to corrective care to address the condition that was causing the pain.

Phase 2: Corrective Care

Goal: To correct the condition that was causing pain & keep pain from returning

During this phase, we use chiropractic adjustments and physical therapy exercises to correct the condition and allow the body to heal. This is a double whammy because by healing the condition we can reduce the likelihood of the pain returning.

Since the stresses of your life continue as you continue with therapy, some patients will experience mild flare ups. This is a normal part of the healing process. As goals are reached, patients will graduate to the next stage of care.

Phase 3: Stabilization Care

Goal: Maintain the hard work and energy invested in care

During this phase, the goal is to stabilize the muscles and ligaments that support your spine in order to decrease the likelihood of your problem returning. Dr. Lee provides this care in order to solidify your health after all of the time and hard work you have invested.

We like to say that we use Stabilization Care to ensure that you do not have to return to Relief Care in the future.

Wellness Care:

Phase 4: Wellness Care

Goals: Maintenance & Prevention

The goal in wellness care is to live a healthy, pain free life. Routine chiropractic adjustments will keep your body at its top performance. Everyone experiences emotional, physical, and environmental stresses that affect the body; however, chiropractic adjustments can minimize these affects and allow the body to function properly.

Wellness Care promotes optimum function of your nervous and immune systems. Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future.

If you’re already pain free and want to stay that way, or want to maximize your performance and prevent disease – chiropractic is for you!
