Tension headaches are caused by muscle tension in the head and neck. Often described as feeling like your head is in a vice. This tension can be caused by a stress response to psychological stress and tension. It can also come from wear and tear of the neck and/or from postural changes. As we look down at our phones, tablets, computers the muscle memory of the shortening muscles kicks in and it pulls our head forward. In response, the muscles of the back of the neck fight this, creating torque and pressure leading to headaches.
