What is Occipital Neuralgia

Occipital Neuralgia is one of those terms that can be used to describe a very specific disorder; but sometimes it can be generic too. It’s Latin for “nerve pain in the back of the head.”  Its classified as a headache disorder that affects your occipital nerves.

Causes of Occipital Neuralgia

Occipital Neuralgia can be caused by:

• Aching, burning or throbbing pain starts at base of the head.

• Shocking or shooting pain.
