Frozen Shoulder Treatment in Bel Air, MD
Shoulder Pain is an extremely common complaint, and there are many common causes of this problem. Limited range of motion or inability to more your arm as it should and muscle weakness are often precursors to pain.
Many of the same pieces of tissue that hold the arm on, also hold the neck up and that’s where most of our stress goes. Most injuries are caused by stress; either actual emotional stress, repetitive motion stress, or stress caused by trauma to the area.
What is the rotator cuff? The rotator cuff is a giant complex of muscle and tissue that holds the arm in place and makes it move. Tears to the rotator cuff are quite common and painful.
What causes rotator cuff injury?
Symptoms of rotator cuff injury:
Symptoms include pain that is local to the shoulder or runs down the arm. Pain may cause less range of motion and or use of the arm.
What is a separated shoulder and why does it happen?
Often considered part of the shoulder, the Acromioclavicular or AC joint connects the shoulder blade to the collar bone. A separated shoulder occurs when trauma or normal wear and tear causes the ligaments of the AC joint to tear or stretch. When the integrity of the ligaments is compromised it causes the separation of the collarbone and the shoulder blade and the weight of the arm is no longer supported by the AC joint properly.
The treatment of shoulder pain depends entirely on the cause of the problem. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that you understand the cause of your symptoms before embarking on a treatment program.
Our doctors always start with a thorough examination to find the exact cause and contributing factors to your shoulder pain, then customizes a treatment plan specific to your needs.
