What is an ear infection?
We all know what ear infections are; it’s a part of most children’s lives. Kids are more susceptible because their ear canals are so small. Most kids get a few while they are toddlers, no big deal. But for some children reoccurring ear infections can be a problem.
Ear infections occur because of either bacteria or viral infestations. Viral infections of the middle ear being the most common. Our Eustachian tubes are the same size at birth as when we are full grown. However, because our heads are not, the tubes are pointed down in childhood, allowing it to fill with fluid. Just like an old tire out in the rain that serves as a breeding ground for mosquitos, children’s ears grow viruses.
Treatment for Ear Infection
Chiropractors treat more than just the spine! The neck and ears are super close proximity, so neck adjustments are known to help the function of the ears. Adjustments can help alleviate the fluid build up and once the fluid drains there is nothing in the ear to get infected. Children who have chronic ear infection often benefit form chiropractic care because regular adjustments clear the build up until they have grown big enough for it to not be a problem and in many case avoid getting tubes.
