Cluster headaches and Temporal (Giant Cell) Arteritis are similar to each other and are sorta-cousins to migraines. Typically more painful than migraines, but without the accompanying prodrome and aura. Cluster headaches, so called because they come in clusters, are related to an histamine (allergy) reaction in and around the vessels and nerves of the head and face around the temple. They can even sometimes be confused for Trigemina Neuralgia-inflammation of the Trigeminal nerve. Arteritis is inflammation of the same vessels of unknown origin.

All three of these can be difficult to treat, but acupuncture and laser treatments have shown to be beneficial.
