How is your posture?
If you are like most people, you just sat up straighter. Some people will admit their posture is off; many that don’t, should. In our society today there are many factors that contribute to bad posture. Texting is one! Many people work on computers all day. The way you sit, stand, read, drive, and work can all put added stress on your spine. Here is a summary of research in the journal Surgical Technology International. Read more
Flip Flops are NOT Shoes
So anyone who knows me knows I love shoes! My kids have also inherited my love of shoes. What they don’t love is a daddy who knows about shoes and how footwear affects your body. The shoes you choose are important! Take tennis shoes for example: they are not all made alike, and they are not all the same support level or the same shape. Not all feet and shoes are the same shape; and all 7’s aren’t exactly the same size and shape either. Read more
New: Acupuncture

Acupuncture Sessions!!
Continuing our pursuit in helping you achieve your healthcare goals and our goal of making Harford County as healthy as possible; we are now offering acupuncture from Eric Smith, LAC
A note from Wendy: I love acupuncture! I suffered from stress headaches when I was teaching in an alternative high school. These weren’t headaches, I should be clear — they were migraines: no talking, no light, no movement allowed. I was in terrible pain. I could not even have an adjustment, my head hurt so bad. I tried acupuncture. Read more
Are custom orthotics right for you?
My oldest is crazy in her growing patterns. One leg will grow, and then a few weeks later, the other will catch up. It really creates a problem because the longer leg will look like it is wedged up under her hips that creates an imbalance in the hip, which causes back pain. I came home from work the other day and she said “Daddy Daddy I put my orthotics in my shoes today and my back didn’t hurt at all. Those things are awesome!” Read more

New Year’s Resolutions
If you are like many people the last few days you have vowed to eat better and exercise more.
In theory Dieting is simple math. Burn more calories then you take in. But in reality it is not that simple. If you want to eat healthy foods then buy heathly foods. If you can not so no to potato chips then don’t have potato chips around. Figure out your pattern: if you are a “snacker,” snack on health nuts or trail mix. If you like sweets, buy dark chocolate or good protein bars that have chocolate in them. If you like fast food, just say no. Read more
Tis the season
If you have been to a store lately you know the holiday season starts as soon as you shut the light off for trick or treating. No matter your denomination or beliefs, we can all agree that the holidays are the most stressful time of the year. These stresses are caused by our normal day to day and then add planning, decorating, choosing the perfect gift, and wanted or unwanted visitors. Read more

Big 10 on Nutrition
For those paying attention (not even me most days) you’ll remember that I was just at the NFL combine to pow-wow with Team doctors. One of the invited speakers was Amanda Philips; nutritional consultant to the Miami Dolphins, FSU and Tampa Rays. Read more
It’s not that bad
— Note from Wendy
If I made it to our Mexico conference I would not have been on 543 last night and would not have been rear ended! But that’s life. Minimal damage to the car and the kids were just scared. Me however not so simple, as you know I have had injuries in my back before. So of course my neck and back were tightening up in exactly the places I expected. Ice, ice, ice right father the accident and next morning as expected I feel twinges. Read more
