A note from Wendy: I love acupuncture! I suffered from stress headaches when I was teaching in an alternative high school. These weren’t headaches, I should be clear — they were migraines: no talking, no light, no movement allowed. I was in terrible pain. I could not even have an adjustment, my head hurt so bad. I tried acupuncture. Read more
My oldest is crazy in her growing patterns. One leg will grow, and then a few weeks later, the other will catch up. It really creates a problem because the longer leg will look like it is wedged up under her hips that creates an imbalance in the hip, which causes back pain. Vitamin D is found in small amounts in a few foods including fish such as herring, mackerel and tuna.
Vitamin D is added to dairy products, juices, and cereals. These are labeled as “fortified with vitamin D.”
You are my Sunshine…
Most vitamin D – 80% to 90% of what the body gets – can be obtained through exposure of the skin to sunlight. The skin then makes vitamin D.
For the skin to make vitamin D, direct exposure is needed for 15 min daily. However in the winter months, our area of the hemisphere does not get direct rays.
Supplements
Good news! Vitamin D can be taken as a supplement.
So in the winter months, we can still get benefits of stronger bones and immunity by taking vitamin D supplements.

If you can not so no to potato chips then don’t have potato chips around. Figure out your pattern: if you are a “snacker,” snack on health nuts or trail mix. If you like sweets, buy dark chocolate or good protein bars that have chocolate in them. If you like fast food, just say no. Read more
