Have You Tested Your Brain Health lately?

Many of my long-time fans remember that Magnesium was my favourite vitamin supplement. If you do, then you should remember my John Kerry/Mitt Romney moment when I flipped-flopped to liking Omega 3’s more. Why do I like Omega 3? Omega 3 (Not 1, not 2 but 3) fatty acids are not just anti-inflammatories, but they are un-inflammatory. Why is inflammation not my friend? Inflammation is the internal process that facilitates disease and symptoms. It is a complicated and multi-step process. Inflammation is caused by injuries and disease, but also what we…

Alternatives to Pain Medication

Not that long ago, I wrote “show me someone with a six-pack, and I’ll show you a dysfunctional back.” The news is full of stories of the over use of Opioids or pain medicine. And you have to look no further than Tiger Woods. Take a look at his midsection. The guy has (had) serious hour-glass abs. Well, while that looks amazing at the beach, it also disrupts the diaphragm’s ability to create a piston base allowing the oblique swing to create torque. Instead he relied on his spinal rotation…

6 Pack or Beer Belly

Not a day goes by I don’t hear “I do plenty of sit-ups, I have a strong core so I don’t know why my back hurts.” Well, muscles can be strong in what’s known as the physic, or moving function, but not so much in the postural state. Poor postural strength leads to poor performance and low back pain. So matter what your stomach looks like on the outside it does not show how strong the core muscles are. Core stability in fact is not due to the absolute strength…

Surgery or not surgery that is the question

As a San Antonian, a Spur’s fan since before The Admiral’s rookie season; I have mixed emotions when it comes to Msgr. Kerr. Hate-Love-Hate. However, having had treated hundreds to thousands of patients with failed back surgeries, I kinda feel for him. In an interview Monday, April 24, 2017 head coach Steve Kerr Golden State Warriors shared his story about his back injury.  He initially had surgery for a ruptured disc.  An injury that can be treated– and we have a lot of patients that have healed from ruptured…

How to Treat Low Back Muscle Pain in Bel Air

The one phrase I hear that eats my goat more than any other, even more than “we are out of cheese dip;” is: “Yea, I’ve got chronic back pain, but it’s all muscular, there’s nothing that can be done for it.” That’s like saying: “Sure, the men’s room smells, but it’s just the air, there’s nothing you can do about it.” Sure you can, it’s called flushing and bleach. Muscles don’t just spasm and hurt on their own, it comes from somewhere. There is always a cause. Sometimes the cause…

From the Surgeon General of the United States: An Opioid Epidemic

From the Surgeon General of the United States: Dear Colleague, I am asking for your help to solve an urgent health crisis facing America: the opioid epidemic. Everywhere I travel, I see communities devastated by opioid overdoses. I meet families too ashamed to seek treatment for addiction. And I will never forget my own patient whose opioid use disorder began with a course of morphine after a routine procedure. It is important to recognize that we arrived at this place on a path paved with good intentions. Nearly two decades…

Flip Flops are NOT Shoes

So anyone who knows me knows I love shoes!  My kids have also inherited my love of shoes.  What they don’t love is a daddy who knows about shoes and how footwear affects your body.  The shoes you choose are important!  Take tennis shoes for example: they are not all made alike, and they are not all the same support level or the same shape. Not all feet and shoes are the same shape; and all 7’s aren’t exactly the same size and shape either.

Winter is Officially Over!

This has been a long winter and all of us are craving the sun and warm weather this time of year.  Here are some tips to get back on track this spring:

Big 10 on Nutrition

For those paying attention (not even me most days) you’ll remember that I was just at the NFL combine to pow-wow with Team doctors. One of the invited speakers was Amanda Philips; nutritional consultant to the Miami Dolphins, FSU and Tampa Rays.

Testimonials

I have been having severe pain since 2014. I’ve had a full battery of x-rays/MRI done to diagnose my condition [as] severe arthritis. After I was prescribed an injection that I was told would take care of everything, the pain was back, worse than before. Dr. Lee reviewed my x-rays and MRI and set up a treatment plan... After the 1st visit my pain has decreased. I can already feel a big difference.

Before coming to Dr. Lee, my ankle pain would wake me up during the night because of its severity. Dr. Lee has helped alleviate the pain in my ankle. By performing specific exercises twice per week, the pain is non-existent!

I have been a patient of Dr.Lee's for about 10 months now. As a 22 year old, I have been suffering from back pain since I was about 13 years old. The pain increased a few years ago and despite physical therapy performed at other facilities, and pain medications from the doctor I was unable to control the level of discomfort. I found Dr. Lee and have been extremely happy with my results.

I came to Dr. Lee with several aches and pains. I was nervous about receiving chiropractic treatment but Dr. Lee eased my concerns by thoroughly making sure that I was a safe candidate for adjustments... After regular adjustments and Physical Therapy, my knee pain is gone, my elbow pain is gone, my ankle and wrist are improving AND I’m reducing the migraines I used to get too!

I began seeing Dr. Lee after noticing severe tenderness and pain in my left hip region... I was lucky to find Dr. Lee when I did, not only did he help me discover that the pain in my hip was actually related to a mass growing uncontrollably but he also gave me the comfort I’d been searching for with chiropractic. I’d recommend Dr. Lee to anyone who wants to be pain-free!

I have had lower back problems for about 35 years. As I aged, they were getting worse. I also noticed I was over weight. I came to Susquehanna Spine & Rehab because Dr. Lee could address both issues as part of a unified plan. The diet regimen, chiropractic, and personalized exercises worked!

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had pain in my neck and shoulders... Now that I’m an adult, my pain continues, but Dr. Lee is helping me a lot. I have an appointment twice a week, and I can definitely tell a difference. I use pain management along with the tens unit and physical therapy. All three of these services are working great and I’m definitely feeling better.

I have had back problems for years. I have been to other chiropractors I have even gone to medical doctors no one has been able to make it feel any better. Then I found Dr. Lee I have finally found relief. I am feeling so much better after starting care at Susquehanna Spine & Rehab.

I began seeing Dr. Lee because of a shooting pain I developed in my left heel... After a brief examination, Dr. Lee explained to me that my pain was being caused by Plantar Fasciitis... Shortly after Dr. Lee began treating my heel, I noticed that I was experiencing less and less discomfort. In a few short weeks, I was able to continue my exercise routine and enjoy my daily activities pain-free!

When I came to Susquehanna Spine & Rehab I was very skeptical. After only 2 weeks at Susquehanna Spine and Rehab the severe pain in my neck, shoulder and arm had greatly improved … NO MORE PAIN! I can now sleep through the night without waking up in pain! THANK YOU SUSQUEHANNA SPINE & REHAB!!!

My daughter started falling up the stairs at school and having severe knee pain for no apparent reason... Dr. Lee did a thorough exam and walked us through his entire treatment plan. Every appointment was made at a time convenient to my schedule. Heather has made wonderful progress and is now pain-free. Dr. Lee was always available for questions and kept me well informed of her progress.
